Just imagine, fifty years ago people could not imagine the internet as an important part of a human life. Fifty years ago. It is not even an average human life; it is less than a century. But now the progress is advancing with seven-league strides, sometimes the process is rapid to follow its development.
Some centuries ago people had to make a two months trip in order to reach another country. Now you are able to take plane and arrive in two hours. A hundred years ago a letter could be delivered only in two weeks. Now you press a button and a receiver gets your message in a moment. Before, to learn the news, a person bought a newspaper (in the morning, while the boys were running across the streets and shouting the titles). Today the only thing you are to do is to turn on a computer and log in. In the XX century the writers prognosticated an opportunity to pass the information without using the wires. Now nobody would be surprised with this way of communication – the internet.
As for me, I am a child of the XIX century, but sometimes I am delighted with the modern progress and its fast development. Actually, I do not have any desire to sing the praises to those scholars and scientists who made a break in the science. There are many people who are able to do it instead of me. I would like to stay neutral as for the internet as I see both the negative and positive characteristics of it like nobody else does, perhaps.
The social alarms as for the internet dependence are so young like the internet is itself. It is a baby age, but the problems are not baby-like. The problems are the problems, but at least the internet is not the source of the troubles only. It is the unity of many factors, abilities, opportunities, advantages and disadvantages. Everything you want you can find here as the internet unites nearly all the countries of the world.
There is a funny picture in one of the internet blogs. It presents a group of the natives sitting at the laptop somewhere in the hot African deserts and googling for something with real interest in their eyes. It is interesting that only one of them, an older man in a family, dares to press the buttons holding a spear across his knees. It is the past and the present, old and new, opposite and similar. A monkey with a bomb? Who knows, time will show.
